A variety of vacancies are notified to us: summer, part-time etc but those of most interest to you in your final year are what are often called Forward, Finalist or Milkround Vacancies for entry level positions on Graduate Devlopment Programmes. It is important to understand the difference between these and what are generally called Current Vacancies.
Forward/Milkround Vacancies (Graduate Training Programmes)

Speculative Applications and Networking & Potential Employers
Many employers fill vacancies from applications sent in speculatively. Decide on the type of organisation you wish to apply to and find companies or organisations to send applications to. An excellent starting point is the page of links we complied to on-line databases. In addition you will find KOMPASS
- Ireland's Business Search Engine and the Golden Pages
useful.
Prospects
has an excellent section on both networking and making speculative applications. Check also our Career Development Moodle site - topic on Transition Skills - Recruitment & Selection Process.
(Sept 2009 - note we are currently having some technical difficulties transferring our courses to the new version of Moodle)
